BI Analyst

This role is designed as an entry-level position within FinXP’s technology function, providing the post holder with structured exposure to Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, and Reporting within a regulated fintech and payments environment. 

Reporting to the Chief of Staff ICT, the post holder will be part of the ICT team and work closely with business stakeholders, product teams, developers, and data owners to deliver meaningful insights through reporting and analytics. The successful candidate will assist in transforming raw data into actionable business intelligence, support decision-making processes, and contribute to the continuous improvement of reporting capabilities across the organization. 

In alignment with FinXP’s commitment to professional development and internal career progression, the role is designed to progressively transition toward a mid-level BI Analyst position, with increased ownership of data modelling, dashboard development, and analytics initiatives. Over time, the successful candidate will be expected to independently develop reporting solutions, identify business trends, and play a key role in enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and enhance interactive dashboards and reports using Power BI or similar BI tools. 

  • Gather reporting requirements from business stakeholders and translate them into effective visualization solutions. 

  • Connect, transform, and model data from multiple data sources for reporting and analysis. 

  • Write and optimize SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and validate data. 

  • Assist in creating and maintaining data models to support reporting and business intelligence initiatives. 

  • Monitor data quality and investigate inconsistencies to ensure accurate reporting. 

  • Support ad hoc analysis and provide insights to assist business and operational decision-making. 

  • Document reporting solutions, data definitions, and business logic. 

  • Collaborate with developers, business analysts, and business users to deliver scalable reporting solutions. 

  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of BI processes, governance, and documentation. 

Person Specifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Business Analytics, or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience. 

  • 2–4 years of experience in Business Intelligence, Data Analysis, Reporting, or a related field. 

  • Basic knowledge of SQL and relational databases. 

  • Familiarity with Power BI or other data visualization tools through academic projects, internships, or personal experience. 

  • Understanding of data modelling concepts and ETL principles. 

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English. 

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a professional environment. 

Preferred:
  • Exposure to financial services, fintech, payments processing, or regulated environments. 

  • Experience with Power Query (M Language) and DAX. 

  • Familiarity with PostgreSQL, MySQL, or SQL Server. 

  • Basic understanding of data warehousing concepts. 

  • Knowledge of Excel advanced functions and data analysis techniques. 

  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git. 

  • Understanding of APIs and integrating external data sources into reporting solutions.
