About the Role
Reporting to both the MLRO and the Compliance Officer, the Senior AML Analyst will be a key member of the Compliance/MLRO team. This team is responsible for overseeing regulatory compliance and managing AML/CFT matters within the company. Our role includes ensuring adherence to regulations, supporting regulatory and annual statutory audits, and carrying out AML/CFT-related tasks. Our work is crucial to the company’s long-term sustainability and growth.
Main Responsibilities:
• Manage the review and collection of data required for the business risk assessment and bring forward any recommendations to the risk matrix.
• Completion and submission of the annual Risk Evaluation Questionnaire.
• Completion of the Annual Compliance Report.
• Review and monitor AML/CFT policies and procedures.
• Assist in the delivery of AML/CFT awareness training to staff members.
• Keep abreast with upcoming AML/CFT & Regulatory Compliance legislation.
• Maintain and update the Compliance Monitoring Programme and raise any breaches to MLRO.
• Monitoring that the Company’s employees are adequately trained to become aware of the legal provisions concerning the prevention of money laundering and funding of terrorism.
• Monitor the effectiveness of AML systems and controls including snap checks on account level particularly IBAN accounts.
• Carry out snap checks and periodic checks on transaction monitoring alerts and analyse all alerts flagged to MLRO team.
• Act as a designated employee and receive internal suspicious reports and investigate thereon.
• As a designated employee, decide whether these internal suspicious reports should be reported externally to the relevant competent authorities and if appropriate, make such external reports.
• Respond to requests received in GoAML, made by local and foreign authorities as appropriate.
• Assist in the preparation of regular MLRO reports to the board and other necessary reporting.
• Ensuring that any MLRO and designated employee regulatory action points are efficiently brought to the Board’s attention and that timely progress is made to address and resolve them.
• Attends and act as a point of contact with inspections carried out by MFSA and FIAU.
• Assist during internal and external regulatory audits.
• Follow-up on remediation and liaise internally so that all action points are completed by the action owners.
• Performs such other duties, compatible with the role and as may be assigned by the MLRO or the Senior Management from time to time.
Person Specifications:
• Minimum 3 to 5 years experience in AML/CFT (Fintech Industry/Payments/Banking) compliance-related laws and regulations.
• Knowledge of regulatory compliance framework for e-money institutions.
• Willingness to learn and aptitude for acquiring new competencies.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment as a key individual and point of reference for AML/CFT matters.
• Excellent communication skills, comfortable presenting at all levels internally in the organization on an individual or group basis, to customers and external stakeholders as required.
• Highly organized and able to work effectively under pressure being able to manage priorities.
• Team player.
• Proactive approach to work.
